Saturday Special

Posted on March 30, 2008. Filed under: Football |

Saturday was the last day of school holiday for most of the manggis park players and they took the opportunity to close the gap at the top. The home team was given a shocker early in the game when Afif who was in a mercurial state of late shot the ball from way outside the danger zone. The home side later levelled via Reza after some hard work from the right and shot the ball eluding 2 other defenders.

The home team later piled further misery when Ben and Reza combined in attack and Ben scored with only Khalik defending. Kazi and Afif often threatened the home side defense which looked rather weak at times. Ariz played a lone striker had a few shots on goal but was just merely missed chances. He later reverted back to defense to sure things up for the home team. Ben then piled more misery for the away team when he scored the third and his second for the game.

A defensive slack gave Afif a shot on goal which later gave a glimmer of home for a comeback for the away team. Any hope of a draw was wiped out when Reza and Ben again combining in attack. A lucky deflection from Ben’s shin gave his hat trick and number 4 for the home team. It stayed that way until the end of the game.

MOTM: Reza who played well in attack and defense.
