Home team remains unbeaten

The final game of the 1st quarter of the year was played today. The home team is still holding the impressive run of 3 wins back to back. It did not look that way when the home team was selected. It looked to be a weakened side on paper. Mainly having 2 attack minded players with the likes of Azmi and Jimbo with Ben and Khalik filled in the midfield role. Ariz returned back to the home side and played as a lone striker up front.

The away side made up of impressive players with the likes of Reza, Unc.Metali, Kazi, Izuddin and Abang in their ranks. Most of them had an impressive display before and were always threatening to score goals with Izuddin and Kazi lurking upfront.

The away side broke the deadlock when Unc.Metali stole the ball from Jimbo from midfield and his shot went pass Ben in defense to give the away side a precious lead. They doubled the lead through Izuddin with a simple tap in courtesy of scramble in the D.

The home side came back with a goal from Ben who received the ball from Jimbo in defense. His shot flew in from the right flank in the middle of the park. something of becoming  trademark finish from him.

The away side scored the 3rd goal through Izuddin when Ben made a mistake passing a weak ball to Jimbo. Izuddin tapped into the empty goal easily. The came the turn around. Ben working all over the pitch made a run from the left before passing to Azmi to the right. It was like a well worked moved when Azmi’s return ball was turned in by Ben while Reza on goal was already stranded, nowhere near the goal. The third came again from the right flank with Ben putting a thunderous effort from deep inside his own half. The comeback was completed. Although the away team pushed for the winning goal, it was a little too late. The points were shared and the home team remains unbeaten yet again.

Reza received his top goal scorer for the 1st quarter of the year tonight as well. It was not a surprise that he would get the prize. Azmi trailed behind him closely with a single goal.

MOTM: Ben for pulling the team together and his command in the centre of the field.
