Against the run of play

The home team played an encouraging display yesterday when they beat the away team 3-1 courtesy from Afif (2) and Izuddin (1). On paper, the home team looked like a depleted side as most of them are comprised of the juniors with only Ben the only inclusion in the team. Ben slotted back to his defensive role as the away team was spearheaded by Afif, Khalik and Ariz in attack with Izuddin playing the defensive midfield role.

The away team were made up of all attack minded players in the form of Azmi, Reza and Kilin while Unc.Metali played the defensive role. With waves of attack coming from the away side it was the home team that took the lead through Afif who played mostly in the right flank. Afif was once again in hand to slot in the second for the home team when he made sure Ariz’s attempt on goal crossed the line. After that it was one way traffic. The away team pulled one back after Reza playing on the left flank played a perfect pass to Azmi as his shot eluded Ben in defence. Izuddin played brilliantly as a defensive midfield as his tackles and blocks made sure that Ben was well covered in goal. Khalik also showed signs of maturity in his game as he made several efforts on goal and also played in his defensive duty to help out Ben and Izuddin. Izuddin then completed his fine form with a goal to seal the victory for the home team.

MOTM: Izuddin for his astute defending and well positioning.
